Full beach in Matosinhos. In Caparica, you walk through “mental sanity”

The Maritime Police patrolled, at noon, uninterruptedly, the beach between the Castelo do Queijo and the wall of the port of Leixões in quad vehicles. The agents wore masks and spoke with several bathers.

The beaches of Costa de Caparica, in Almada, continued with few bathers who just took advantage of the good weather to walk, exercise and “maintain mental sanity”.

João Raimundo, 75, who watched Nova Praia from the car with his wife, told Agência Lusa that “when there is a possibility we will get our feet wet, but now we can get a little bit of fresh sea air and keep mental sanity ”.

On Thursday, the Prime Minister, António Costa, announced that access to the beaches and the sea will be possible from Monday for the practice of water sports.

For the general population, access to beaches is still being assessed with municipalities and captaincies.

According to the deconfinition plan presented by the governor, a set of activities related to the beaches was identified in which it is believed that “it is possible to eliminate restrictions over three periods”, as of May 4, May 18 or June 1 ” .

Portugal entered today in a calamity situation, after three consecutive periods in a state of emergency since 19 March. This Saturday there were 1,043 deaths related to covid-19, 20 more than on Saturday, and 25,282 infected (more 92), according to the epidemiological bulletin released today by the Directorate-General for Health.
