Fugitive parents of Michigan school shooter arrested after manhunt | Abroad

According to prosecutors, the couple had given their son Ethan (15) a firearm as a Christmas present. He killed four people and injured seven others at his Oxford school on Tuesday. The parents are said to have ignored warning signs that the teen could potentially cause a bloodbath.

The parents were due to be arraigned Friday, but did not show up and did not respond to calls from their lawyers. Police began a search and found her in an industrial building in Detroit, dozens of miles from Oxford. The lawyers previously said their clients had left Oxford and would return in time for their arraignment.

A total of four charges have been filed against James and Jennifer each. “These charges are intended to hold accountable those who contributed to the tragedy and also to send the message that gun owners have a responsibility,” prosecutors Karen McDonald said.

Authorities had offered a $10,000 reward for the tip leading to the arrests of James and Jennifer Crumbley. Among other things, they are blamed for not having safely stored the firearm at home. Their son Ethan has been incarcerated since the shooting. He is suspected of murder and terrorism.
