Fuel prices in Poland are, next to Hungary, the lowest in the EU

“Orlen’s profit in the first quarter is a record PLN 2.8 billion. Has Daniel Obajtek already thanked Polish drivers for their generosity?” Wrote a spokesman for the Civic Platform on Twitter, suggesting that such a large profit is the effect of draining the pockets of drivers who have to pay higher and higher prices per liter of fuel.

In response, the press office of PKN Orlen cited charts showing fuel prices in individual European countries. “Although the current macroeconomic conditions apply to all countries, fuel prices in Poland (next to Hungary) are definitely the lowest in the entire EU and clearly lower than in countries with similar wealth. Sales at Polish stations account for only 10% of the profit of the entire concern” – Orlen points out.
