FSV Mainz 05 striker Adam Szalai has spoken for the first time after his surgery.
“I survived my surgery well and I’m getting better every day,” the 34-year-old Hungarian wrote on Instagram on Thursday.

The 05er announced last week that Szalai would be absent from the Bundesliga for a few weeks due to the surgical intervention. Szalai has now published a photo that shows him weak, wearing a hat and a plaster near his left ear.
He explicitly thanked the doctors at the Heidelberg University Hospital. “It feels like life has been given to me again,” wrote Szalai. His club expressed best wishes for wellbeing on social media. The Mainz team did not provide any details about the operation.

Since 2019, Szalai has been under contract for the second time after his engagement between 2010 and 2013 in Mainz. This season he has played twelve competitive games, most of them as a joker. (kk / dpa)
