The Polish studio 11 bit for over two months attracted today’s revelation and it must be said that it was worth it. The developers have announced the continuation of the successful Frostpunk strategy. We don’t even know the approximate release date yet, but the announcement itself will surely please fans of this freezing world.
It was launched official webpage, from which we learn the first details. Frostpunk 2 takes place 30 years after the Great Storm, which we experienced in the first part. Even after such a long time, the weather is still very harsh and the Earth is frozen. We will play for the leader of the metropoliswho crave new raw materials. After coal oil is beginning to be extracted, which is to be a new salvation for the last remnants of humanity. However, change is not easy and not everyone will welcome it. The demands of different factions will create conflicts, but resolving them violently may not be a good idea. Our goal will be to unite people and prepare for the sacrifices that will inevitably come.
Game announcement commented by co-director Jakub Stokalski:
„We want to deliver a experience that will significantly surpass the original Frostpunk. With a team of almost 70 people constantly expanding, we have more human resources to focus on all aspects of the game, such as the size, production value and quality of UX, but our ambition is to do more than just a classic sequel. Players can expect rich choices, freedom in how they manage their city, but they will also be responsible. Frostpunk 2 builds on the conflicts of its predecessor – survival vs human values, life vs frozen soil. But most of all, it adds a new layer that is present in several aspects of the game, be it politics, society or technological advances, it is a conflict between people and their essence.“
Developers certainly have little ambition. Looking back at the recent conference for investors, it can be easily deduced from it that Frostpunk 2 is Project Eleanorwhich 11 bit studios equate to the size of Civilization VI. I would like to remind you that in addition, the studio also creates Project Dolly (a new IP, but a well-known genre) and then Project 8, which has been worked on for the longest time. It is a new brand and a completely new genre for 11 bit – an action game from the point of view of a person with a strong story. It is not yet clear when we will see the revelation of these two games.
Frostpunk 2 is probably quite far away, though you can at least add it to your wish list on Steam, GOG or EGS. Console versions have not been announced yet.
