Frost alerts begin in Cundinamarca and Boyacá

In an article by La FM radio station, report the alert issued by the Institute of Hydrology, Meteorology and Environmental Studies (Ideam) due to the low temperatures that are affecting more than 30 municipalities in the departments of Cundinamarca and Boyacá, in the center of the country.

According to the information they cite on the radio, During this first season without rain, which would last until March, the Ideam pointed out that the forecasts indicate a predominance of dry weather that results in low temperatures at night and early morning. that produce frost.

On the FM they consulted with Daniel Useche, head of Alerts and Forecasts of Ideam, who indicated that those most affected by this climatic phenomenon are flower growers, ranchers and farmers in this area of ​​the country.

Through Twitter, in Ideam urged local and national authorities to take preventive measures to avoid complications caused by the low temperatures in the center of the country.

In addition, they gave recommendations to field workers in Cundinamarca and Boyacá so that the frosts affect them less this season.

Among the tips, Ideam indicated that tillage activities should be avoided in the plots, so that in this way an excessive loss of soil moisture is avoided.

They also recommended that the crops are grown in lots where irrigation and rainwater capture is facilitated. Likewise, they advised watering the soils and crops in the afternoon.

These measures, according to Ideam, must be accompanied by a adequate fertilization of crops, as this makes them healthier and less vulnerable to frost.
