Fürth – VfL Bochum has reinforced its top position in the 2nd Bundesliga in the top game against SpVgg Greuther Fürth.
In a duel with a high entertainment factor, coach Thomas Reis’s team won 2: 1 (1: 1) and inflicted the first defeat in the second half of the season on the Franconians in their own stadium. For the time being, Bochum was able to extend their lead in the standings to three points on pursuer Holstein Kiel. The North Germans still have the Monday game at Hamburger SV up their sleeves.
Anthony Losilla brought the dangerously switching Bochumers in the seventh minute in the lead. Anton Stach (18th) equalized for the then more powerful Fürth. After a foul by Abdourahmane Barry on Danny Blum, Robert Zulj (61.) converted the penalty safely. It was the twelfth goal of the season for the long-time Fürth.
