From Tuesday you can use the “Test Registration Code” to register or make an appointment online to get a free test

From Tuesday you can use the “Test Registration Code” to register or make an appointment online to get the free test.

[Sing Tao Daily Report]The government reminds the public that from Tuesday (8th), those who are subject to mandatory tests and some citizens can continue as long as they use the “Test Registration Code” in the “Safe Travel” mobile app to register or make an appointment online in advance At the community testing center or testing station, accept the new coronavirus nucleic acid test for free. Interested citizens can generate a user-specific QR code “Test Registration Code” on site at the community test center or test station and can also conduct free tests.

The use of the “Test Registration Code” can override the process of registering staff to manually enter information, avoid the public having to re-register and wait for information to be entered each time a test is run, and reduce the time required for the entire testing process, as well as contact with the public and staff. Citizens only need to enter information once and the registration code will automatically be stored in the “Safe Travel” mobile application, which can be used multiple times by opening the program each time a test is performed in the future. Community Test Center or Test Station staff will assist citizens in need to obtain the “Test Registration Code”.

Xu Xiaolu, chief assistant secretary general of the Medical and Health Bureau, stressed on a radio program a few days ago that the purpose of this new provision is not to charge citizens, but to encourage citizens to use information technology to compile their personal data information in advance, so as to reduce the time for compiling information on site, and Reduce the possibility of staff making mistakes every time they enter data.

Those still eligible for free testing from Tuesday include:

Citizens subject to mandatory testing (e.g. residential buildings where they live or work are included in the mandatory test notice)

Specific groups of qualified people (such as residential home, airport and cold storage staff)

Visitors of public hospitals and institutions

Elderly 60 years of age and older

Arrivals

People who volunteer to be tested (ie “willing to test”)

As for people aged 15 and under, seniors aged 65 and over and people with disabilities who are exempt from using the “Safe Travel” mobile app, they can still receive free trials. even if they have not made an appointment or have not used the “Test Registration Code”.

Members of the public can make appointments through the online system (booking.communitytest.gov.hk/form/index_tc.jsp).

Citizens are still required to bring the required identification documents and SMS-capable mobile phones in Hong Kong while conducting nucleic acid tests, so that staff can check and ensure that test results can be passed on to the people tested. The “Safe Travel” mobile app can only store a user specific “Test Registration Code”.
