From today you can swim on the Belgian coast: a map allows you to see if there are too many people on the beaches

From this June 27, swimming in the North Sea is authorized. Rescuers return to their posts, allowing tourists to enjoy swimming.

It is the first day of authorized swimming on the Coast. Many of you will no doubt want to go there. The 10 coastal municipalities have therefore set up a system that allows them to see if there are too many people on the beaches.

You have to surrender on the site “lelittoral.be” where you will find an interactive map.

On this one, 4 colors are represented. They show you the beach attendance rate. For example, you know that the dark green beaches provide total peace of mind. However, the orange beaches will be very busy. It is therefore difficult to place your towel at a good distance from the others.

This map is updated in real time throughout the day. The goal is not to go to an already crowded beach. This will be very useful in Ostend where a reservation system will be put in place on busy days.

It will be an almost normal summer at the Coast. Apart from Ostend, no municipality requires reservations to access the beaches.

On the other hand, educate yourself well because some oblige the beach canvas. It is a large canvas that you stretch over you, like a tent.

In addition, you can be a maximum of 15 people, i.e. the people in your hangout from July 1.

“Beach coaches” will ensure compliance with all measures.

Last important information: don’t forget to book before going to a restaurant or bar.
