“From today we distribute packages with 12 types of products”

This is again the fifth tranche of food packages each pack contains 12 different types of productsMinister Marcel Boloş announced Wednesday.

“As of today, we are distributing the 1,188,000 food packs we have prepared for people and families in difficult situations.

These are those people and families who have the minimum income per family member below the guaranteed minimum social income in payment, those who benefit from the allowance for family support, people who are in crisis situations, are alone, are considered vulnerable from the point of view of the European Commission regulation, being the fifth tranche that has this food package.

The food package is 25 kilograms, the package contains from 5 kg of flour, up to 4 kg of sorghum flour, 4 liters of oil, 4 kilograms of rice, canned pork, beef, pate, jam, including composed they are inside these packages.

Boloş: “If we bought these packages ready for delivery, they would cost 260 lei”

The value we have for a package and which we have paid is with the appropriate price of 190 lei. If these foods were to be purchased today, they would have to pay 260 lei, so this is what a centralized food purchase means.

We have achieved this cost savings, but also the support for the food industry because everything you have seen here, the vast majority, with the exception of the rice, are Romanian products.

If we were to take into account the impact of the six tranches we supply, of the food packages, we are talking about 32,000 tons of flour, 28,000 tons of sorghum flour, 28 million jars of compote, so all in all for Romanian food the industry is a special help.

The value of an installment is around 220 million lei and we have this funding guaranteed by the operational program to support disadvantaged people.

In Romania we have 1,188,000 cases, so people who are on the verge of extreme poverty and for whom the crisis has affected them not only from the point of view of the price of utilities and consumer goods, and for them this food package is welcome, as it compensates them for part of the expenses they have for daily life “, announced the Minister of Investments and European Projects, Marcel Boloş.
