We all start somewhere, and for many A-list celebrities, they had humble beginnings. While some stars are born into fame and others are in just the right place at the right time, it doesn’t always turn out that way for everyone. In fact, many of our favorite celebrities got their start on everyone’s favorite reality show, reality TV. Let’s take a look at some famous icons who got their start in the unscripted genre.

Emma Pierre

Cox was the first African-American transgender contestant to appear on a popular reality show. She was eliminated after episode two.

The premise of the show was basically to trick people into thinking they were on a real reality show. She only starred in Season 1 and actually injured her head in an on-screen sumo contest.

She starred in Season 6 of Love and hip-hop: New York in 2015 and before that she was on VH1It is Black Ink Crew: New York. Black Ink Crew was only a brief on-screen appearance while working as an exotic dancer. She gained instant popularity thanks to love and hip hop and was everyone’s favorite. Unlike many longtime franchise members, she quit after a few seasons once her rap career started to take off.

Meghan Markle

Before becoming the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle was a star on shows like Combinations, Married with childrenet Expert : Miami. But even before all of that, Markle had her moments of glory thanks to a reality TV lens. Markle was a briefcase girl on the UNITED STATES to show, Agree or not agree in 2006. Maybe she wasn’t the star, but it helped her make ends meet until she could find other gigs.

Lady Gaga is an icon. She sings, she is an activist, she is an entrepreneur and she is an actress. The name says it all as the reality show puts unsuspecting people in increasingly irritating situations to see how long it will take them to explode. Gaga could have been awarded $100 if she survived the situation for 14 minutes without exploding, but she didn’t. Therefore, no cash prize was won.

Chris Hemsworth

The Thor star, Chris Hemsworth, was not always the celebrity we know today.
