Europeans who want to enter the UK will need a passport from October 2021, the British government announced, saying that citizen cards or identity cards will not be acceptable. Only the Irish and the citizens of Gibraltar will be exempt.
“Identity cards are the least secure documents at the border and ending their use will strengthen our security when the UK regains control of its borders at the end of the transition period,” according to the information published in the site from the government.
