From Montpellier to Pérols: the crazy chase behind the wheel lasts nearly twenty minutes

After forcing a police check on Saturday February 13 at around 10:30 p.m. at the Zénith roundabout, the fugitive was intercepted in Pérols. He was referred to the prosecution.

This Saturday evening, around 10:30 p.m., the driver of a Peugeot 206 refused to comply with the order to stop made by national police. They had set up a traffic check on the Zénith roundabout to enforce the curfew.

He pretends to stop and accelerates

At first, the motorist slowed down before pretending to stop. But when the police arrived at his height to carry out his control, he suddenly accelerated and fled. Fortunately, a police officer had the right reflex, in extremis, to send under his wheels a harrow more commonly known as a vehicle interception device (Diva).

Which had the merit of puncturing his tires. But whatever, the mis en cause continued his mad race multiplying traffic offenses for nearly … twenty minutes! Burning several traffic lights, passing over the tram tracks, driving in the wrong direction, taking side lanes, swerving in an attempt to hit a vehicle from the anti-crime squad that came as a reinforcement …, all at speeds close to 100 km / h.

It rolls on three rims for miles

The police finally managed to apprehend him after losing three of his four tires, just before the Étang de l’Or tram stop in Pérols.

Aged 24, he was taken into police custody where he admitted the facts and explained that he felt “all-powerful” under the influence of alcohol. He was driving with a blood alcohol level of 1.04 g per liter of blood. He was referred to the prosecution for an immediate appearance.
