CelebrityThe training series ‘Wednesday’ recently launched on Netflix. A series about the teenage life of the sadistic daughter of Morticia and Gomez Addams from “The Addams Family”. It is the gen-Z’er Jenna Ortega (20) who plays the lead role in the series and thus serves to warm up a young audience to the antics of the goth family. But make no mistake, despite her age, the young 20-year-old already has a lot to her credit.
Ortega started his career when he was nine years old. After several appearances in ‘CSI: NY’ and movies like ‘Iron Man 3’, the actress landed the role of young Jane in the hit series ‘Jane the Virgin’ in 2014. With that, she appeared on Disney Channel’s radar, the channel offering her her first leading role not long after.
For example, in 2016 Ortega appeared as Harley Diaz in the Disney Channel series “Stuck in the Middle”, which we called “The middle of seven”. She played that role until 2018. Later she Ortega was also invited by Disney to voice Princess Isabel in the animated series “Elena of Avalor”.

Dark edge
Despite her large amount of Disney fans, Jenna Ortega is also no stranger to Netflix. For example, she starred in some somewhat dark series and films: the thriller series ‘You’, the horror film ‘The Babysitter: Killer Queen’ and the drama ‘Yes Day’.
But the part that fully qualified her for the sadistic role of Wednesday Addams was that of Tara Carpenter in the fifth installment of the horror franchise “Scream”. Not only did she hold her own on screen in that role against stars like Courteney Cox, David Arquette and Neve Campbell, but Ortega was also convincing enough to win an MTV Movie Award for “Most Frightened Performance.” Around the same time, the drama “The Fallout” was released on HBO Max. And also for this Ortega could count on positive reviews from critics. As a result, “The Hollywood Reporter” proclaimed her the “Next Big Thing” in January 2022.

Latin
Away from the screen, Jenna Ortega is an advocate for LGBTQ+ rights and immigration. She garnered a lot of media attention in 2018 when she wore a jacket to the Radio Disney Music Awards that read “I care and you should too (It interests me and it should interest you too, ed)”. The statement was in response to then first lady Melania Trump wearing a jacket that read “I don’t really care. And you?” (I really don’t care. You?, ed) when you visit immigrant children.
