from cinemas to gyms and swimming pools

March 5 will expire on dpcm currently in force, introduced in January by the Conte bis government. The new executive, led by Mario Draghi, will therefore be called upon to field a new decree, containing the anti-Covid measures. These days at Palazzo Chigi the government team is evaluating which sectors are most affected by the closures for two reasons: on the one hand to develop the Ristori decree, on the other to understand if it is possible to restart at least some of these activities or at least reduce the closing times. Decisive should be the weekly report of the Higher Institute of Health, which on Friday will take stock of the epidemiological situation in the country. From there we will start both to understand any new criteria for the division of Italy into the different bands and for any reopening of some activities. The evaluation will concern above all gym, cinema and theaters, but also the possibility of reducing the restrictions for bars and restaurants, perhaps allowing for evening openings.

The evening opening of the restaurants in the yellow zone

The League and Matteo Salvini they cry out the evening opening of the restaurants, at least in the yellow zone. Another request for these hours is to open them at least for lunch in the orange area. The idea of returning to catering at the evening table is also supported by the mayors and, according to Coldiretti, a choice of this kind would save 80% of the restaurant’s revenues. Obviously a possible one reopening in the evening it should take place in compliance with all existing protocols, from the use of masks to the spacing of the tables and a limit of 4 people at the same table if not cohabiting. The technical-scientific committee, urged on the subject, had deferred any choice to the government.

The possible reopening of gyms and swimming pools

Another hypothesis being discussed is that of reopen gyms and swimming pools: in the gym with individual lessons and a distance of at least two meters, in the pool with at least 10 square meters of space for each person. The use of showers is prohibited and operators must always wear masks. The rules were written by the Ministry of Sport and validated by the Cts: experts say they are concerned about the possible reopening of places deemed at risk, but also underline the importance of sport, especially for young and old. The idea is to allow individual training in gyms and swimming pools in the orange zone, with training for contact sports activities but only individually, with the possibility of also practicing dance for children. In the yellow zone, on the other hand, amateur and grassroots contact and team sports would also be allowed.

The goal of reopening theaters and cinemas first

The Minister of Culture, Dario Franceschini, has clearly said he wants reopen theaters and cinemas as soon as possible: the goal is for Italy to become the first country to do so. It still seems early to reopen theaters and cinemas, which are currently closed practically all over Europe. But the minister reiterates that these are places less at risk than others because, among other things, you never take off your masks. The rules on spacing, sanitation and use of the disinfectant gel are also respected. In fact, for Franceschini, theaters and cinemas are safer places than others already open today. This is why the Minister of Culture asked the CTS for an urgent meeting to evaluate the possibility of reopening cinemas and theaters.
