Frightening incident experienced by passengers on a Delta Airlines flight. The plane’s tire exploded as it was about to land. What’s the chronology?
Reported from Entrepreneur, Saturday (5/8/2023) a Delta Airlines flight landed with a flat tire on the runway at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. Passengers were evacuated on emergency slides after a terrifying landing.
The plane departing from Richmond, Virginia, suffered a rear tire puncture which caused the pilot to apply the brakes hard as the plane began to skid. The incident occurred at around 18.00 local time on Wednesday (2/8).
In the pictures circulating on social media, one of the plane’s tires can be seen completely flat. And in another post, the passengers were helped by the crew to get off the slide and were taken to the terminal by bus.
“We appreciate the efforts of our flight crew and Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport first responders to manage through the safe landing of Flight 1437 at our hub Wednesday afternoon,” a Delta spokesperson told FOX Business.
“We apologize to each party for this experience. Nothing is more important than the safety of our customers and crew,” he added.
One person was reported injured in the incident. The Federal Aviation Administration will soon investigate the incident.
One of the passengers on the plane said that the rescue team coordinated very well with the Delta crew. All rescues were well organized and there was no real panic.
“There were probably 100 ground safety personnel here and 20 vehicles, so the response was overwhelming,” Bruce Campbell told 11 Alive.
This incident is the latest accident for Delta Airlines at the same airport.
