French products in his shop bought and burned, this is Indomaret’s response

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Managing Director of PT Indomarco Prismatama ( Indomaret), Wiwiek Yusuf emphasized that his party is following the direction of the Indonesian Retail Entrepreneurs Association (Aprindo) regarding the rampant calls to boycott products from France.

This was conveyed by Wiwiek as well as responding to the action of a group of people who bought French product from the Indomaret shop and then set it on fire.

“This is very situational. As members of the Aprindo association, we try to follow Aprindo’s statements and directions,” Wiwiek told Kompas.com, Thursday (5/11/2020).

Meanwhile, Aprindo’s attitude is to hand over a decision on the call to boycott French products to consumers. Aprindo respects the consumer’s decision whether to buy or not for products from France that are sold in modern retail outlets.

According to Wiwiek, Aprindo also continues to coordinate with a number of parties related to issues boycott of French products this.

“They represent retailers and continue to communicate and coordinate with relevant officials and the police,” Wiwiek said.

Previously, a group of members of the Islamic Youth Movement (GPI) mass organization bought products considered to be a French brand from Indomaret on Jalan Johar, Menteng. Purchased items such as mineral water, biscuits, milk, and others.

They then took the goods that had been purchased to the GPI office and then burned them.

Head of the Menteng Sector Police Criminal Investigation Unit, Commissioner Gozali Luhulima, said the incident took place on Wednesday (4/11/2020) yesterday afternoon.

However, the police only supervised and did not take action because there was no criminal element being committed.

“There is no element of a criminal act because they bought, not looted or sweeping. If we take action because it disturbs public order, we cannot, because the arson was in their own office, “said Gozali.
