French police intervene at supermarket after wrong price for TVs

In the southern French city of Montpellier, the police wiped a supermarket after angry customers refused to leave. They demanded that they were allowed to buy TVs at a greatly reduced rate, but the store staff did not want that.

Due to a malfunction, the digital price tags in the electronics department of the Géant Casino showed a wrong price for a short time on Wednesday evening. Especially for televisions the advantage was enormous: instead of 440 euros, some models cost just 30 euros for a while.

According to the cashiers, customers could know that the price was incorrect and therefore applied the regular price. The customers did not agree. Until long after closing time they stayed with their TV at the cash register.

Dozens of officers were used to send the people away. There are no reports about arrests.
