The leader of a French motorcycle club that fights bullying has been arrested on suspicion of threatening a school director. The man heads Black Shadow North WC and was arrested in the village of Auchel, about 65 kilometers from Lille. His wife is also a suspect. She’s not stuck. Both will appear in court for the first time on Monday.
The pair threatened to come to a secondary school in Auchel with dozens of bikers, put the rector in the trunk of a car and take him to Belgium because of the rector’s passive attitude, in their view. The pair deny making the threats. The Public Prosecution Service reports, among other things The Parisian that the foreman has previously been convicted of violent crimes.
The foreman and three other bikers came to the high school on November 9 to help a 13-year-old girl who had allegedly been a victim of bullying for two years. The harassment allegedly started after a fight involving the girl, which was recorded on video.
Another girl who appeared in the video of the fight also reportedly complained to the school that she was wrongly accused. The school investigated the matter, but states that there was no bullying or harassment. “Police investigation also showed this,” the French education association SGEN-CFDT told BFMTV.
Altercation
The bikers confirm that there was an altercation with the principal, who asked them to leave. Ultimately, the girl was brought home by the bikers, Franceinfo reports. Some teachers are said to have felt intimidated and subsequently called in sick.
The case took a new twist when a letter to the motorcycle club surfaced, in which the Ministry of Education thanked them for their actions. “The minister has asked me to respond and thank you and the other members of Black Shadow North MC for your actions and your dedication,” the letter said.
The letter upset teachers in the region and they threatened to go on strike. According to another education organization, Unsa Éducation, the school’s staff is demanding an apology from the minister and confirmation that he will “never again support people who seriously threaten staff”.
Several biker clubs have emerged in France in recent years to combat bullying. It is not known exactly how many there are.
