Since August 2020, the Waldkircher Employment and Qualification Society (WABE) and the Freiburg Association of Education for All eV (BFA) have been working together on the development of new ones in a project funded by the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Economics, Labor and Housing and the Heidehof Foundation gGmbH Labor market policy concepts for the integration of men over 50 years of age and women who receive benefits from the Second Social Code.

The Waldkircher Employment and Qualification Society (WABE) gGmbH and the Freiburg Association of Education for All (BFA) are socially innovative organizations that advocate equal opportunities. Together with the support of the Heidehof Foundation gGmbH, WABE gGmbH and BFA have developed a project that specifically deals with the development of access to the labor market for women and people over 50 years of age. As part of the “New Chances on the Labor Market” funding from the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Economics, Labor and Housing and the Heidehof Foundation gGmbH, the organizations will carry out the “Rethinking work” project by the end of 2021. The aim of the project is to develop, test and implement new labor market policy concepts together with the two target groups women and people over 50 years of age who are in receipt of benefits according to the Second Social Code. The knowledge gained is intended to help shed light on the reasons for the target group’s lack of participation in the labor market in order to derive approaches for those affected, but also for future funding opportunities.

Labor market lab as an opportunity for joint design of work:
The basis for this approach is the involvement of a wide variety of actors in labor market promotion and the target group. New innovation processes are to be initiated within the framework of a so-called “labor market lab”, a participatory committee of experts. The “good practice approaches” emerging in the labor market lab are to be implemented in the medium term by the two implementing organizations and approaches for a step-by-step introduction to the labor market are to be developed. An experienced systemic consultant and coach, Adrian Sina Vollmer, moderated the process for the first time last Tuesday, November 24th, 2020.
During the approximately three-hour workshop, various opportunities for the job market emerged: In particular, findings were expressed that led to a mutual understanding of the situation. Rarely do people have the opportunity to talk to each other when the basic points of overlap are not obvious. In order to deepen this further, the “support offers” created following this labor market lab should help: An educational offer from BFA, as well as highly individualized coaching and help from WABE gGmbH are now being opened up and promoted for the target group.

Civil society impulses for the labor market:
With these impulses, BFA and WABE gGmbH want to break new ground together – a task that civil society in particular can achieve. Due to the “laboratory character” of the labor market lab, which brings together business, civil society, experts and administration, these impulses can be checked directly for their feasibility. The women and men over 50 years of age contribute their individual experience, which is of inestimable value, especially for a civil society approach.
