Freiburg: someone else’s map used – fraud was discovered during a control on the train from Breisach to Freiburg

In order to save the cost of a ticket, a 20-year-old was traveling with someone else’s regional card, when the fraud was discovered he attacked the police officers and insulted them, the federal police are investigating.

The young man wanted to save the money for a ticket on Wednesday morning (16.09.2020) and used a friend’s regional card to travel from Breisach to Freiburg im Breisgau. On the train, the German citizen was checked by officials from the Federal Police.

He handed over the regiokarte as identification and referred to the personal details entered there. Because the man gave contradicting information, the officials began to doubt the person’s identity. In order to determine the identity beyond doubt, the 20-year-old was asked to accompany the federal police. On the way from Freiburg main train station to the local federal police station, the young man slowly realized that the dizziness would soon be exposed and so he decided to become more uncooperative with every meter. Ultimately, the man was so aggressive that he had to be handcuffed. The officials were also insulted several times by the 20-year-old.

After the identity check and the initiation of criminal proceedings for fraudulent performance, resistance to law enforcement officers, insults and an administrative offense due to incorrect naming, the man was allowed to go his way again. The improperly used regiocard was seized.
