Although she was employed by a
Chain stores in downtown Freiburg, a 40-year-old woman had applied to the Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald job center for benefits to secure livelihoods (unemployment benefit II) the day before.
She did not mention the imminent start of work in the application, nor did she inform the authorities about the change of employer two months later. The woman wrongly received benefits of around 3,200 euros over a period of four months. Officials at the main customs office in Lörrach were aware of the fraud by comparing the data in the job center with those of the
Social security agency, because the woman was properly registered with her employer. The Freiburg District Court saw the allegations as proven and imposed a total fine of 2,250 euros on the woman by means of a penalty order for fraud in two cases.
In addition, she has to repay the wrongly received services to the job center. The penalty order has been in force since mid-November.
