Freiburg: Ice hockey: EHC Freiburg succeeds in revenge! – Wölfe Freiburg wrestle Tölzer Löwen 4: 3 in extra time – Andreè Hult player of the evening

– 15 seconds extra time was enough for the Wolves to decide the game against the Tölzer Löwen. Before that, the hosts had a long hard time against the biting Bavarians, who had traveled to Breisgau with only 14 field players.

Against the Tölzer Löwen, the Wolves still had an open score, as they had only lost 4-2 to Upper Bavaria last Friday.
But the guests made it difficult for the Freiburgers in the Echte Helden Arena again, although coach Kevin Gaudet could only fall back on 14 field players and two goalkeepers.
The wolves had a hard time attacking the compact defense of the guests and had to be constantly on the lookout for the dangerous counterattacks of the lions.
So there were scoring chances on both sides and the guests worked out the clearer chances. Visually, the Freiburg team were superior for long stretches of the first section, but the shots on goal were mostly harmless and easy prey for goalkeeper Maximilian Franzreb. In 13 minutes of play, Reid Gardiner even managed to take the lead for the lions when Freiburg goalkeeper Ben Meisner failed to secure the target and the Tölzer was able to poke the play equipment into the goal.

In the second third, the wolves were outnumbered early on when Nikolas Linsenmaier and Luca Tosto got into each other’s wool and the Freiburg man was given two minutes more penalty time. However, the penalty was inconsequential and Freiburg subsequently tried unsuccessfully to equalize. Instead, the guests managed to score the second hit out of nowhere. Niklas Heinzinger was able to overcome Meisner free-standing.
A minute later, the wolves were allowed to act outnumbered after Sasa Martinovic had to go to the penalty box for hooks. However, it stayed cold because after only eleven seconds Christian Billich scored the 1: 2 goal. Nick Pageau and Andreé Hult had unlocked the Freiburg and the transformed ice cold.
Now the wolves pushed for the equalizer and both Cedric Schiemenz and Maxim Rauch had the equalizer on the racket. Instead, Luca Tosto faked a shot by Kenney Morrison untenable for Meisner for the third goal of the guests. Tosto stood completely free and was able to hold the bat unimpeded in the shot.

The third third then began according to the taste of the hosts. Immediately after the play, Nick Pageau captured the disc and passed it on to Andreé Hult. He served Chris Billich, who in turn overcame Franzreb to 2: 3.
Now Freiburg was overwhelmingly superior. The wolves almost constricted the Tölzer in their third and shot from all angles. In the 46th minute the time had come. Andreé Hult was able to keep the racket on the far post in the shot of Scott Allen and achieve the compensation for the Breisgauer, which has now been earned.
Four minutes before the end it got tricky again when Peter Spornberger had to go to the cooler because of tripping. But the wolves survived the shortfall, but were not able to achieve the winning goal in regular time afterwards.

Freiburg conquered the disc in overtime and now the wolves are proving their playful class. Without Tölz touching the disc in extra time, three passes were enough until Andreé Hult scored the 4: 3 winner.
