Before Christmas, the state government of Baden-Württemberg provided 11.5 million free FFP2 masks for residents of inpatient care facilities, assistance to the disabled and assistance to the homeless. These masks should distribute the city and rural districts.
The city of Freiburg was allocated almost 250,000 masks. Of these, around 110,000 went directly to the largest institutions and 140,000 to the Emergency Preparedness Office for further distribution in smaller institutions. So that the above-mentioned facilities can carry out their actual tasks, Department 17 Management and Logistics of the volunteer fire brigade has taken over the delivery of this special delivery by the state government for the facilities of the city of Freiburg. The FFP2 masks were able to reach the people in the facilities before Christmas.
The masks for the facilities in the district were also delivered to the emergency preparedness office and then brought to the right places by the district’s volunteer fire departments. The voluntary fire brigades in the district have been involved in the distribution of FFP2 masks to facilities since the beginning of the pandemic, starting at the 14th and monthly from June.
The Emergency Preparedness Office is a joint office of the city of Freiburg and the district of Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald. Since the beginning of the corona pandemic in March, it has been supplying protective equipment and disinfectants, especially to clinics, retirement homes, nursing homes, outpatient care services and other areas of critical infrastructure.
