Freddie Mercury’s mansion went on sale at this price – 2024-02-29 16:53:26

When the British band, Queen, dominated the world music industry, its leading figure, Freddie Mercury, spoiled himself by buying an imposing mansion in the Kensington neighborhood, west of London and ten minutes from the bustling center of the English capital.

From 1980 until his death on November 24, 1991, the place was the home of someone who is considered a true rock legend. Large private parties were held inside and it was also the place where several iconic songs of the group such as “One Vision” and “Under Pressure” were written.

Considered a major tourist attraction and one of the most visited house facades in the world, the Garden Lodge mansion and everything within it is for sale for a price truly unattainable for the common denominator.

Garden Lodge for sale

Acquired for 500 thousand pounds (almost 600 thousand euros today), since the death of Farrokh Bulsara (real name) the mansion was never opened to the public and was inherited by his inseparable companion and great love, Mary Austin, who lived for more than thirty years in that home.

After the successful auction of many Mercury items in 2023, which generated more than 50 million euros, Austin has now decided to also put the building up for sale for 30 million pounds sterling, which is equivalent in euros to about 35 million .

Garden Lodge has eight bedrooms, two living rooms, a dining room, a main room, a study and two more rooms for entertaining. In addition, a huge Japanese-inspired garden based on the famous Kyoto gardens, with a wooden pergola and a fish pond. It should be noted that Mercury decorated the entire home because according to Austin, she “couldn’t get the decorator to match the ideas he had in his head.”
