Frank Dane will present the afternoon show on Radio 538 from Monday 29 August. He succeeds Coen Swijnenberg and Sander Lantinga, who recently announced having to stop their daily show on the channel.
Swijnenberg and Lantinga have been making since 2015 The Coen and Sander Show from Monday to Thursday on Radio 538. Before that, the duo made a program on 3FM for years. From now on they will only make a program together on Fridays. Separately, they will present programs on Radio 538 and Radio Veronica. The two announced this month that the move from the afternoon was not their own choice.
Forty-year-old Dane returns to Radio 538 after a radio silence of more than six months. In 2019, he followed up on Edwin Evers in the morning, but at the end of last year he was suddenly told that his program was going to stop. Dane was succeeded by Wietze de Jager and Klaas van der Eerden.
The cancellation of the morning show was completely unexpected for Dane, he said at the time. At the time, the radio maker did not yet know whether he could join the station wanted to stay† Radio 538 then announced that it would like to keep the DJ with the station.
Dane says in a press release that he “cannot wait” until he can start his new program in the afternoon. “When I started radio 22 years ago, 538 was my first great love and today I can confirm, old love does not rust.”
Swijnenberg and Lantinga have not yet responded to the news about their successor.
Radio 538 is changing programming
Dane’s shift to the afternoon is the next in a series of major changes at Radio 538 this year. Since Evers left, the station’s listening figures have declined.
According to Talpa, the changes at Radio 538 have to do with a changed audience. “Over the years, our audience has evolved and it’s very important for a hit station to grow with the listening needs.”
Dane can be heard on Radio 538 from Monday 29 August every Monday to Thursday between 4 and 7 pm.
