François Rebsamen will receive the Legion of Honor

François Rebsamen, the mayor of Dijon, is one of the personalities who will receive the Legion of Honor in 2022 according to a list published in the Official Journal this Saturday, January 1.

He is one of 547 personalities to be nominated to receive the highest distinction in France in 2022. Alongside Agnès Buzyn, Gérard Collomb, Thierry Marx or even Xavier Niel, the mayor of Dijon (Côte-d’Or), François Rebsamen is part of the promotion of the Legion of Honor, according to the list published this Saturday, January 1 in the Official Journal.

And the last promotion Emmanuel Macron’s five-year term offers pride of place to people who have fought against the Covid-19 epidemic, it also has many elected officials, or former local elected officials. The public sector represents 30% of the decorated.

This is how we find, among others, Gérard Collomb, former mayor of Lyon, historical support of Emmanuel Macron and Minister of the Interior under Edouard Philippe. François Rebsamen is therefore also one of the personalities to be elected to the rank of officer of the Legion of Honor, on the proposal of the Prime Minister. He had already held the title of Knight of the Legion of Honor since 2002.

As a reminder, the former member of the Socialist Party was seen at the Congress of Territories of Progress, the movement bringing together figures from the left wing of the presidential majority. Jean Castex had also entrusted him with ahe study on housing construction in France this year.

Another local figure promoted, Laurent Granguillaume, deputy for Côte-d’Or and former protege of François Rebsamen before leaving political life in 2017, not without tensions and small sentences with regard to the mayor of Dijon. He will become a knight of the Legion of Honor for his action in creating activities in France through the Newlife-Freeland group, of which he is deputy general manager.
