Franck Touboul: “The antivax have blood on their hands”

the essential
Franck Touboul, president of the Representative Council of Jewish Institutions (Crif) Midi-Pyrénées, reacts to anti-Semitic messages displayed in demonstrations against the health pass in France.

How do you react to this resurgence of anti-Semitic signs in the demonstrations against the health pass in France?

In these “antivax” demonstrations I observe two categories: first there are pseudonyms “antivax” who use the movement to pour out their anti-Jewish hatred. They are grassroots anti-Semites, they are obsessed with anti-Semitism and see Jews everywhere! Besides, some of the names brandished on the signs that we see waving on these demonstrations are not Jews. The other category is made up of conspirators, these are the new recruits of anti-Semitism. They could have overwhelmed the Chinese who for some are responsible for the Covid-19 pandemic, but they prefer to overwhelm the Jews once again. Among them is the supreme transgressive side. After the Holocaust, nothing could be said, so today they are passing the torch of anti-Semitism on to their useful idiots.

What do you want to tell them?

They are the ones who have blood on their hands! Because by pushing against each other, that is to say, the vaccinated against the unvaccinated, they run a risk of death to this second category of the population. We can clearly see today that the deaths of Covid affect unvaccinated people. Let them let us go, let them let go of the Jews and start by questioning themselves because they are pushing people to non-vaccination. The last straw is that among these anti-Semites a good part is vaccinated against Covid-19 but the opportunity is too good to continue their fight against the Jews.

What do you recommend?

We must put an end to anonymity on social networks. We need to know who is behind these hate messages. There is too much false information and hate online. This fight must be the big challenge today if we really want to know who is behind this hateful content. The national Crif initiated proceedings against the teacher from Metz who brandished her stupid sign in early August. And we will continue to prosecute anyone who spreads this anti-Jewish hatred.
