For more than twenty years he has dreamed of Megalopolis, Francis Ford Coppola (82). The director of The godfather on Apocalypse now has announced that he wants to make another effort to realize his ambitious film project, a grand epic set in an alternative New York. And for that he is willing to feel in his own pocket. “I can invest up to $100 million. If there’s nothing else to do, I’ll do the same.”

The director started the project in the 1980s, but for various reasons it never got off the ground. Coppola has aimed his arrows at the likes of Cate Blanchett, Michelle Pfeiffer, Oscar Isaac, Zendaya, Jessica Lange and James Caan, a familiar face in his films. In the fall of 2022, he wants to start spinning.
