JAKARTA, SENAYANPOST.com – The corona virus is still raging in France. Most recently, France recorded a record high of corona virus infections with 2,524 new cases in the past 24 hours on Wednesday (12/8). This number is the highest addition of daily cases since 6 May.
This time, the daily number of Covid-19 cases is the highest spike since France relaxed its lockdown policy.
The addition of new cases this time has made France to now have 206,696 people infected with the corona virus with 83,472 of them declared cured. The death rate due to Covid-19 rose to 30,371 people, an increase of 17 people.
There are currently 92,853 active Covid-19 cases in France, around 379 of whom are in critical condition.
Quoting CNN, this surge in new corona cases occurred after Prime Minister Jean Castex said that the pandemic situation in France was going in the “wrong direction”.
The French government has made it mandatory to use masks in all closed public spaces such as shops or public buildings.
The spike in daily Covid-19 cases was previously warned by the French Ministry of Health at the end of July.
Residents are asked to remain vigilant about the transmission of the corona virus during the summer holidays in early July to early September.
The warning was issued because residents often take advantage of summer holidays to hold family events and gatherings. This could trigger the transmission of the corona virus again.
Nationally, the “R” figure indicating the current transmission rate of the virus stands at 1.2, which means 10 infected people will infect an additional 12 on average, according to the health agency Sante Publique France.
But in some areas of mainland France, this figure is much higher, with the southern Mediterranean region including Marseille and Nice now reporting 1.55.
