France is shortening the isolation period for those infected

The French Health Council, an advisory body to the government, has warned that the infectious variant of omicron threatens the country of the Gallic rooster in January in an organizational disruption. There will be people missing not only in healthcare, but also in supply, food retail, transport, energy and education.

If a person with two vaccines has become infected, they must now be isolated for seven days instead of the original ten. This “isolation can be canceled after five days in the case of a negative antigen or negative PCR test and provided that he has no clinical signs of infection for 48 hours,” said Health Minister Olivier Véran.

People who have not been vaccinated or have not completed vaccination “will have to isolate for ten days, isolation may end after seven days with a negative antigen or PCR test and if they have no signs of infection with possible release after seven days under the same conditions”.

The rules for infected contacts are also relaxed. Fully vaccinated people will no longer have to adhere to quarantine, but will have to test regularly. The first tests should be carried out when the person we have been in contact with is found to have been infected. Further tests should follow in two and four days.

Unvaccinated or those who have not completed the vaccination must be required within seven days of isolation, which will be terminated by a negative PCR test.

For a period of three weeks, it will be mandatory “for all employees where it is possible” “to work in home office mode for at least three to four days a week”. Those employers who oppose and do not want to comply with this regulation will be fined 1000 to 50 thousand euros per employee. If the employer does not comply with this regulation even after the call, he may receive a fine of 3750 euros per employee.

British medics in quarantine

Due to the highly contagious variant of omicron, the British healthcare system is coming under pressure. Medical staff are quarantined not only because of the infection, but because of risky contacts. The number of quarantined paramedics has doubled in recent days, according to the Daily Mail server.

As of December 26, the English section of the NHS health system had over 24,632 absences. On New Year’s Eve, the number doubled again to almost 50,000, which represents almost half of all employee absences, according to The Sunday Times.

According to current rules, people in England have to quarantine for at least seven days after a positive coronavirus test, which in some hospitals means hundreds of absences a week.

Due to the expected large number of infected people and their contacts, other countries, including the Czech Republic, plan to shorten the length of quarantine.
