TheFrench writer Gabriel Matzneff, targeted by an investigation for rape of minors, will also be tried on September 28, 2021 for apology for crime in Paris before a chamber of the criminal court specializing in matters of press and freedom of expression.
The writer was summoned to appear by the Blue Angel pedophilia prevention association. This procedure allows a victim to summon the alleged perpetrator directly to court, without a preliminary inquiry being carried out. It is up to the victim to collect the evidence of guilt from the alleged perpetrator.
In its summons to appear, which AFP was able to consult, the association refers to three articles published between the end of December and the beginning of January in the weekly newspapers l’Obs and L’Express, as well as in the daily newspaper Le Parisien, and accuses the writer of having praised pedophile acts “and specifically the crime of aggravated rape” by evoking the relationship he had with Vanessa Springora.
