For the first time, doctors at the “Center Hospitalier de Versailles” hospital in Le Chesnay near Paris have reported permanent erection as a result of an infection with the coronavirus. In the journal The American Journal of Emergency Medicine, the doctors describe the case of a 62-year-old infected man who suffered from priapism (a painful permanent erection of his penis) for four hours as a result of Covid-19.

According to the doctors, the man had tested positive for Corona and was immediately hospitalized because his breathing stopped. The doctors put the man on the ventilator, but also determined the erection. The 62-year-old received painkillers and the penis was reportedly cooled.

The doctors wrote: “The patient was calm and asked and was therefore unable to answer any questions. But the pain of a permanent erection is known to be painful anyway. ”

When the doctors took blood from the patient’s best specimen, they found numerous “dark blood clots” which, according to their findings, resulted from a thrombosis caused by the coronavirus.

The doctors concluded in their report: “Although the case for Covid-19 and priapism is very strong in our case, reports of other cases would strengthen the evidence. The clinical and laboratory presentation of our patient strongly suggests priapism in connection with a SARS-CoV-2 infection. “

The man was treated at the hospital for a total of two weeks and released as healed.
