Toyota is reportedly preparing a hybrid Innova. In addition to the Innova, reportedly the Toyota Fortuner will also be ‘stunned’ and become a hybrid car.
The news was blown by the automotive media from Thailand, Headlightmag. The Thai-language automotive news site reported that the Toyota Fortuner will be equipped with a mild-hybrid or mild-hybrid system.
Rumors, this Toyota Fortuner hybrid will combine a turbodiesel engine with a mild-hybrid system. An unnamed source revealed, the third generation Toyota Fortuner will be built using the TNGA-F platform (Toyota New Generation Architecture platform).

The Fortuner Hybrid will reportedly launch in Thailand in 2023 or next year. This hybrid technology that combines a diesel engine with a Mild-Hybrid system will be a first in the SUV market.
Reportedly, the Toyota Fortuner Hybrid will retain the 1GD 4 cylinder DOHC 16 valve 2,800 cc diesel engine with a turbocharger system. The engine is mated to a mild-hybrid system using an alternator.
The hybrid system plays a light role, such as during congestion and during acceleration. This mild hybrid system is useful for reducing fuel consumption and air pollution during acceleration.
In addition, the hybrid system also relies on battery power for cabin air conditioning. The engine will turn off when the car stops as in traffic jams in order to achieve fuel economy.
About the price range of the Fortuner Hybrid has not been disclosed. However, it is hoped that it will be cheaper than the Fotuner Legender so that it can be more salable in the market. As an illustration, the Fortuner Legender in Thailand is currently sold at a price of 1,586,000 baht to 1,859,000 baht or the equivalent of Rp. 651 million to Rp. 763 million.
