The season will start with two consecutive Formula 1 races on the same circuit in Austria. And that means the gaps between the teams will be even smaller than usual the second weekend, according to Sebastian Vettel.
Quadruple world champion and teammate Charles Leclerc drove at length in the 2018 Ferrari, the SF71-H, earlier this week during a test drive at Mugello as Scuderia completed preparations for the modified 2020 campaign.
“I have no experience of going back to the same track just a week later to have a second race, but I have been in F1 for quite some time so that does not scare me,” Vettel comments.
“I guess the level of perfection will be even higher on the second weekend, the number of errors will be even smaller. I think there will be a chance to prepare the race even better, to review the strategy and we We’ll have another chance just 7 days later, so it’s a first and we’ll see how we can meet this challenge. ”
The other challenge for the pilots will be to drive in front of deserted stands for at least 2 months.
“I never did it, I can’t really imagine how it will be. But it’s good to run, you have to restart the sport but obviously, I prefer to run in front of fans.”
