Formula 1 provides for the start of the 2020 season in Austria, on the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg (center) from July 3 to 5, probably “fanless”, announced its CEO Chase Carey in a statement on Monday.
“We are targeting the start of races in Europe in July, August and early September, the first taking place in Austria on the weekend of July 3 to 5,” he said. In September, October and November, we should race in Eurasia, Asia and the Americas and finish the season in the Gulf in December with Bahrain before the traditional final in Abu Dhabi, after having completed between 15 and 18 races. ”
French GP canceled
The F1 French Grand Prix, scheduled for June 28 on the Paul Ricard circuit in Le Castellet (Var, south-eastern France), has been officially canceled. “Given the evolution of the situation linked to the spread of the virus (…), the Grand Prix of France takes note of the decisions announced by L’État making it impossible to maintain our event”, said Eric Boullier, general manager of the GP of France, in a press release. “The looks of the GIP (note: public interest group) Grand Prix de France-Le Castellet are already looking towards the summer of 2021. “
In the aftermath, the British Grand Prix was confirmed for July 19 behind closed doors.
