Former Valmiera Theater actress Mudīte Rāka has passed away

Riga, August 17, LETA. Former Valmiera Theater actress Mudīte Rāka has passed away at the age of 65, LETA was informed in the theater.

The Raka family came from Priekuli in Cēsis region. After graduating from Cēsis State Gymnasium, she entered the Latvian State University and studied philology.

As told in the theater, in his free time, Raka was engaged in artistic gymnastics, where he got acquainted with his next classmate and the closest theater companion, the National Theater actress Indra Burkovska. The experience gained at the Cēsis Folk Theater attracted her to the theater, and Rāka entered the Theater Faculty of the Latvian State Conservatory, which she graduated in 1978.

As one of the 14 young actors of the first course of the Valmiera Theater, in 1978 Rāka became an actress of the Valmiera Theater. Played by Leldi Rainis “I Play, Dance” and Lienīte “Love Stronger Than Death”, Varju Anton Chekhov’s “Cherry Orchard”.

With the long-term director of Valmiera Theater Valentīna Maculēviča, not only the best creative cooperation was established for Rāku, but a family with two sons was also established.

Raka played his last role in the production of “Anna Karenina” by director Felix Deich Lev Tolstoy in 1996. After that, she left the theater altogether.
