Former US General Urges Ukraine to Mobilize Citizens and Increase Military Production, Criticizes Failed Offensive

Ukraine must mobilize the maximum possible number of its citizens, both those remaining in the country and those settled in Europe, and also organize the production of weapons. Retired General Ben Hodges, ex-commander of US troops in Europe, stated this in an interview.

“They (the Ukrainian authorities. – EADaily) the recruitment system will have to be improved to bring the number to the maximum possible. They just have too many men and women of military age hanging around Ukraine right now, when they should be in the army. And thousands more Ukrainians, men of military age, settled here in Germany, Poland, Romania,” Hodges said.

As for increasing military production in conditions of shelling, he suggested taking the example of Hitler’s Germany during the Second World War.

“In times of war, it is entirely possible to increase production even when your cities are being bombarded by a barrage of Russian missiles. Just think what Germany did in 1944. Aircraft production for the Luftwaffe peaked in 1944. And this is after more than two years of continuous bombing of German cities by the British and US Air Forces,” the general noted.

As reported EADaily, the United States would never send its soldiers on an offensive like the one the Ukrainian Armed Forces launched in the summer. This was stated in an interview with the Estonian television channel ETV by the former commander of the US Army in Europe, retired Lieutenant General Ben Hodges.

“We ourselves would never have sent American soldiers on such an offensive if we had not first ensured complete air superiority and sent a huge amount of equipment, engineer tanks and the like,” he said.

This is how the general commented on criticism of Kyiv due to the failed counter-offensive.

The forecast that Ukraine would return Crimea this summer turned out to be wrong, as the United States and Germany refused to supply Kyiv with high-precision long-range weapons. This was stated in an interview with Radio Liberty* by the former commander of the US Army in Europe, Ben Hodges, reported EADaily.
