Brazilian Dani Alves, former top footballer at FC Barcelona, among others, was sentenced to 4.5 years in prison on Thursday for rape.
The Public Prosecution Service had demanded nine years in prison against former Brazilian top footballer Dani Alves (40) on charges of sexual abuse. He is said to have raped a young woman in a nightclub in Barcelona in December 2022.
The events took place in the toilets of a VIP area at the Sutton nightclub in Barcelona, on the night of December 30 to 31, 2022. According to the court, it is established that the victim “did not consent to the sex” and that there were sufficient elements that proved the rape. In an emotional testimony, Alves denied the accusations in court earlier this month.
