Former Prime Minister Fouad Siniora pointed out that “Lebanon cannot engage in an operation against Israel because it is already in crisis.”
He added in an interview with Al-Hadath, “There is no Lebanese decision to engage in a war against Israel.”
He continued, “We reject any decision taken by Hezbollah unilaterally, and the decision of peace and war must be in the hands of the state.”
He added, “I was prime minister in 2006 and the similarity is great with what is happening today, but the difference is that it took us by surprise then.”
He stressed that “Hezbollah’s decision is not Lebanese, but Iranian, and the majority of the Lebanese refuse to implicate Lebanon.”
