Former Minister of Defense Jaroslav Nadj Reveals Russian Interference in Slovakian Politics and Elections

Former Minister of Defense Jaroslav Nadj stated that this is only the tip of the iceberg.

Vlachovskis told more about this situation in an interview with the newspaper “Denník N”, stating that everything came to light thanks to the work of the secret service. “This diplomat or person with diplomatic cover had a well-developed network of cooperation partners here, and he tried to influence public opinion and the situation before the elections,” Vlachovskis said.

The Smer party led by former Prime Minister Robert Fico won the early elections of the Slovak Parliament held on September 30, which was expelled from the European Socialist Party (EPS) because Fico insists on ending military aid to Ukraine. Fico’s rhetoric is also strongly pro-Russian. For example, in a post made public last week, Fico said again that the roots of the war in Ukraine can be traced back to 2014, when “Ukrainian fascists killed civilians of Russian nationality”.

Commenting on the situation, Nadj stated that Russia’s interference in Slovakian politics includes the financing of pro-Russian media and “troll factories”, secret financing of municipalities throughout Slovakia and “significant involvement of Russian secret services”.

Before the elections, the head of Russia’s foreign intelligence service, Sergey Naryshkin, announced that the liberal party “Progressive Slovakia” were US agents and that Washington had “increased its intervention in the internal political situation of Slovakia”. Slovakia, on the other hand, has accused Moscow of interfering in the elections and has summoned the Russian ambassador Igor Bratchikov to express a corresponding protest.

Vlachovski emphasized that Slovakia is not interested in such actions and will always defend itself and take action.
