Judge Carlos Alexandre confirmed Azeredo Lopes’s accusation of denial of justice and malfeasance, personal favoring by an official, abuse of power and denial of justice, in a process that investigated the theft and staging of the finding of the stolen weaponry in the Tancos storehouses.

At the time, the prosecutor of the MP said she was convinced that several defenses agreed positions, in a process that she classified as “extremely singular”.

Among the accused are ex-defense minister Azeredo Lopes, ex-national director of the Military Judicial Police (PJM) Luís Vieira, ex-spokesman for that police Vasco Brazão, three GNR soldiers and ex-marine João Paulino , accused of a set of crimes ranging from terrorism, criminal association, denial of justice and malfeasance, falsification of documents, influence smuggling, abuse of power, receiving and detaining a prohibited weapon.
