Former Malmö FF Talent Tim Prica Reflects on Up-and-Down Season with WSG Tirol on Loan from Aalborg

Former Malmö FF talent Tim Prica, 20, is in his second season on loan with Austrian WSG Tirol from Danish Aalborg.

Prica got off to a dream start to the season with five goals in the first four league games, but hasn’t had the same fluency in front of goal since then with three goals and three assists in the last 19 league games.

Prica herself thinks that things have gone up and down.

– I started well, and then it got a little more difficult, but I still think I did well when I got in. After the winter it has been a bit of a struggle, but otherwise it has felt pretty good. I just try to play better and better with each match, says the talent, who is the son of Rade Prica, to the Football Channel.

The 20-year-old feels he has more in him.

– I wouldn’t say I’m satisfied, as I don’t get satisfied easily. I try to improve all the time in every match. I’m certainly not satisfied, but I’m not disappointed either. I’m just trying to get better every practice, every game, every week.

WSG Tirol, meanwhile, were close, but didn’t quite make it all the way to a top-6 spot for medal play in the spring, and instead are now part of the relegation bracket.

– It was a little disappointing that we didn’t make the top 6, but I think we’ve played pretty well in most of the games. At the end of the season we’ve challenged more than maybe we did at the start of the season, so we’ll just try to win as many games as possible now.

From a distance, Prica has followed its Ålborg in Denmark. The Danish big club is in the middle of a leaden season with relegation threats, and recently Erik Hamrén had to leave, which meant that former assistant Oscar Hiljemark had to take over.

– I have followed Ålborg and everyone who follows them and the Danish league knows that it has been tough this season, but I have full faith that they will solve something good. I’m sitting here cheering them on.

How do you feel about Hamrén having to leave?
– I didn’t have him, but you suffer with everyone who loses a job. As far as I know, he was popular with the players, but that’s just the way football is. Sometimes things happen that you have no control over. Of course it’s bloody tough, but that’s how football is.

What do you think of Hiljemark as a coach?
– I think Oscar can do it very well. I had him a bit as an assistant coach and I’ve also played with him, so I know him, and I absolutely think he’s coaching material. I think he can do great and I have no doubts about him as a coach and a person.

Prica’s loan agreement with Tirol runs until this summer, and after that he has a contract with Aalborg until the summer of 2025. He does not yet know what will happen after the season, and whether Aalborg would be relegated to the second division.

The 20-year-old instead wants to focus on the present.

– I don’t think much about the future right now. We have a lot left in Tirol and you shouldn’t start thinking about things ahead, but be in the present and perform here and now. I have a contract with Aalborg, and that is what I am assuming. It doesn’t matter if they are in the Super League or in the second league, I have a contract there and I don’t have to worry about anything else. I think about the present, concludes the forward.
