Former Japanese Prime Minister Abe visits controversial temple for war victims

To China and South Korea, the temple is a symbol of Japan’s former military aggression.

Abe only visited the temple as Prime Minister in 2013. There were China and South Korea furious about itbecause they suffered from the Japanese aggression. In 2013 the US spoke of a “disappointment”.

Abe recently resigned for health reasons off as prime minister. His former right-hand man Yoshihide Suga succeeded him.
