Former Belgian international ends career and praises Conceição: «The best coach I had» – FC Porto

Guillaume Gillet will be Felice Mazzu’s deputy at Anderlecht

Former Belgian international Guillaume Gillet has decided to hang up his boots and will start his coaching career as assistant to Felice Mazzu at Anderlecht. And when talking for the first time about this new stage, he chose as an example the coach who guided him at Nantes, in 2016/17: Sérgio Conceição. “I know how difficult it is for players to be at their maximum when they are not an option. I will know how to pull them up, inspired by what Sérgio Conceição taught me in Nantes. He was really the best coach I had”, shot Guillaume Gillet, in statements to the Belgian portal ‘La Meuse’, praising the way the Portuguese coach prepares the group to face adversity. “I want to be inspired by his methods, speeches and the incomparable approach he had to keep the group motivated. He knows how to adapt to all circumstances and opponents, sometimes giving more importance to the substitutes than the holders”, he stressed.
