More than 2,300 people have been evacuated after a forest fire broke out in the municipality of Mijas in Málaga, it writes lokalavisa Malaga Today.

On Friday he woke up to smoke and a sea of flames.
– There was no alternative when the flames rose, we threw ourselves in the car, he says on the phone from Spain.
He packed the necessary clothes and brought the animals. On Friday, they stayed in a parking garage in the center of Málaga to protect the animals from the heat.

In the video call, he shows how the smoke rises just a kilometer away. The sun is coming down behind the mountains, and merges with the gray smoke.
– We are one kilometer away where everyone has been evacuated, he explains.
– What messages have you received?
– I have received various messages. First that it was safe, then about to leave, and finally that we can be here until we get a new message. The police have said that they will drive outside with an alarm if the wind turns, then we just have to disappear.

– We have some friends we can get to, and have secured sleeping places, he assures.

Extensive work
Spain’s forest fire services are on Twitter stated that over 100 fire crews are working to deal with the flames. In addition, a total of 15 aircraft and helicopters were sent.
Mayor Alhaurín de la Torre, Joaquín Villanova, has stated to Málaga Hoy that the fire may have been started.
The fire service tells the same newspaper that it is too early to speculate whether this is the case, but says that the cause should be investigated.
