Foreign direct investment fell another USD 267 million in the second quarter – Jornal OPaís

Business environment with notable improvement, confirms PCA of AIPEX, but Angola continues to see more foreign investment leaving than entering

Figures relating to Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) show that, in the second quarter of the current year, investment inflows into the country were around US$1,900 million, figures below the US$2,100 million recorded in the first quarter. FDI data shows a greater outflow of foreign investment in the country, a challenge that, in recent years, the country has tried to reverse due to the losses recorded.

In fact, speaking this Saturday, 1st, at the meeting with the Economic and Social Council, the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, said that the Angolan Executive is doing everything in terms of policies to create a good business environment and attract foreign investment. . According to the President, the results are still timid, which is why greater boldness is needed, having launched the challenge to businessmen so that they accept to run the risk inherent in any business.

Speaking on the subject in an interview he recently granted to OPAÍS, the chairman of the Board of Directors of the Private Investment and Export Promotion Agency of Angola (AIPEX), Lello Francisco, explained that the Doing Business criteria should be focused, essentially, on in the time it took to address the issues, noting that Angola has seen significant improvements.

Lello Francisco pointed out that the General Tax Administration (AGT) is one of the institutions that has seen the most improvement, with the possibility of paying taxes through a virtual portal. However, he said, there are still things to improve, as there are points in which the State in general needs to take the leap, but in terms of accommodation and assistance to investors we are on the right path, and AIPEX itself has been transforming itself in the direction of being more and more a mechanism of real facilitation of the life of the entrepreneurs.
