Ford and Honda call for review of hundreds of thousands of vehicles

Ford called for review on Wednesday 227,884 vehicles in the United States and its territories, including Puerto Rico, as well as in Canada and Mexico due to a defect in its rear suspension on Taurus, Lincoln and other models, at the same time as Honda called global review 241,000 units of the Odyssey minivan.

Ford said that The call for review affects the 2013-2018 Ford Flex, Ford Taurus, Police Interceptor Sedan, Ford Taurus SHO and Lincoln MKT models.

In affected vehicles an element of the rear suspension can fracture, which increases the risk of accidents, although the US manufacturer said it has not received information about any accident or injury related to this defect.

Ford specified that 211,207 vehicles are in the United States and its territories, 15,281 in Canada and 1,396 in Mexico.

The company said its dealers will replace the defective element in the rear suspension.

In June 2019, Ford called for review 1.2 million units of SUV Explorer SUV for the same problem in the rear suspension.

For its part, Honda has called for review of some 241,000 units of the Odyssey in the United States for a defect in the electrical system that can cause fires.

Honda said the wiring defect in the third row of seats affects all 2018 and 2019 Oydssey models, as do some 2020 units.

Models affected by the defect include EX-L, Touring and Elite units.

The problem, as a result of a bad installation of the panel that covers the wiring harness, can cause a short circuit and potentially the fire of plastic material.

Honda said it has received information from three fires related to this defect although no injuries occurred.

The Japanese manufacturer said the company’s dealers will redirect the wiring and increase harness protection.
