From Thursday to Friday evening, laboratories in the region examined 709 suspected samples and 30 samples from self-payers. Out of a total of 739 samples, 101 were positive. Fifty women and fifty-one men joined the patients. Most new cases were added in the Tábor region (36), the České Budějovice region (33) and the Písek region (12). The most cured in Tábor (16) and Písek (14).

“In twenty-nine cases it was contact with a confirmed case in the family and in ten at the workplace. Twenty-eight contacts were school. Eight people became infected in sports clubs, three in Prague, two at a wedding, one at a beer festival in Písek, two during a medical stay in Františkovy Lázně and one in Mariánské Lázně. Two cases come from Ukraine, three from Croatia, one from Austria and one from Slovakia. In ten cases, we are still finding out the origin of the infection, “said the director of the Regional Hygiene Station of the South Bohemian Region (KHS), Kvetoslava Kotrbová.

About a third of new infections come from schools. Another third are family contacts. “As of Friday, a total of forty-eight schools in the region were affected by coronavirus, seven of which were, or still are, completely closed. In the next forty-one, only some classes are closed, “added Kvetoslava Kotrbová.

Situation in the district

Of the current 766 active cases of COVID-19 in southern Bohemia, 291 are currently registered in the České Budějovice region, 149 in the Tábor region, 91 in the Písek region, 71 in the Strakonice region, 68 in the Český Krumlov region, 60 in the Prachatice region and 36 in the Jindřichův Hradec region. Ten patients died of coronavirus infection. In terms of relative incidence, ie in the number of positive cases recalculated per 100 thousand inhabitants of the region, southern Bohemia, with 237.24 patients per 100 thousand inhabitants (as of Friday at 6 pm), together with the Hradec Králové and Ústí regions, belongs to the three regions with the lowest overall incidence of COVID-19 in the Czech Republic.

“A total of 36,607 people have been indicated for examination in southern Bohemia due to suspected COVID-19 disease. There were 598 people in the mandatory quarantine at 6 pm on Friday. The number of examined self-payers in the region increased by 30 on Friday to a total of 7,236, “stated Jitka Luňáčková, an epidemiologist at the South Bohemian KHS.

Where to test

In southern Bohemia, self-payers can currently be tested at the sampling points of all South Bohemian hospitals, with the exception of České Budějovice. In the regional city, they will find a sampling point in the Synlab laboratories in U tří lvů Street. The Nextclinics laboratory is again testing self-payers in a tent at the main entrance to the exhibition grounds in Husova Street. Samples are taken without prior order from Monday to Thursday, always from 8 am to 2 pm. Synlab is also testing in Český Krumlov and now also in České Budějovice’s Vrbenská Street in the PCO complex. The collection point for indicated cases in the České Budějovice hospital has been moved to a multi-storey car park for the public, which is located at the main entrance to the hospital. It is open on weekdays from 6.30 am to 2 pm. There are now a total of 12 sampling points in the region.

According to verified KHS data, 734 women and 794 men have been positive in southern Bohemia on Friday evening since the beginning of the epidemic. Of the total of 1,528 confirmed cases so far, 439 are from the České Budějovice region, 345 from the Tábor region, 177 from the Strakonice region, 176 from the Písek region, 167 from the Prachatice region, 122 from the Český Krumlov region and 102 from the Jindřichův Hradec region. Among the positively tested in the region, there are a cumulative 132 children under the age of 14. 343 patients are in the category from 15 to 24 years, 251 in the category from 25 to 34 years, 242 in the category from 35 to 44 years, 246 in the category from 45 to 54 years and 155 in the category from 55 to 64 years. A total of 159 patients belong to the most endangered age group 65+.
