Materially, many of us live great, but at the level of individual experience, it may not always be so good. This is one of the main motivations why the domestic investment group Miton does not only focus on technology companies as such, but is also increasingly interested in mental health. As part of the new fund, it has set aside tens of millions of crowns for investments in “health” and is taking on board another project.

In Miton, Václav Štrupl is the main driver in this area. At the beginning of the year for CzechCrunch described, why he and his colleagues are starting to invest in science, specifically in the first Czech psychedelic clinic Psyon, and other projects related to mental health, such as the London project Wavepaths.

As Miton is now expanding its activities, it is establishing a special fund called Miton Psychonauts and has already officially made its first investment under its banner, although it will include the previous two mentioned under it. According to CzechCrunch, it is sending millions of crowns to the domestic project Terap.io, which deals with online therapies.

“Although in Western society we are materially better and better, we are not well at the level of individual experience. At the same time, mental health is, without exaggeration, decisive for the future of humanity. How we feel determines the way we live. What relationships do we create, how do we treat our surroundings and the environment? “ says Václav Štrupl.

As a partner of Miton, Štrupl is responsible for mental health and the new fund will be in charge. After the Psyon clinic and the Wavepaths startup, which mediates deep relaxation thanks to computer-generated music, the project welcomes him. Terap.io. Its goal is to make psychotherapy more accessible, thanks to technologies that break down various barriers. These include, for example, the complexity of choosing the right therapist, geographical or financial barriers or prejudices of the environment.

“According to research, online therapy can be as effective as face-to-face therapy, and you can choose from a wider range of professionals than if you have to consider distance. Online therapy is also easier to use without your surroundings knowing, and it is the fear of ‘what people will say’ that prevents many of us from seeking a therapist. ” explain the goals of Terap.io by its founders Olga Kunertová, Jan Sasínek and Chádí El-Moussawi.

Miton invests his own money in the Psychonauts fund and has long wanted to focus on a wide range of projects related not only to mental health. In addition to psychedelics and advanced states of consciousness, it wants to help better understand one’s own health, invest in innovations and technologies that make health care more accessible, and also draw attention to issues related to technological development.
